Police box socks

Mitt första inlägg om Police Box-sockarna är det mest nedladdade på min blogg och jag har insett att jag inte skrivit något om sockarna sen de blev färdiga. Jag har faktiskt hunnit sticka två par sen dess.

Mönstret till Police Box Socks av Audry Nicklin finns som gratismönster på Ravelry. De ska alltså likna den TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space) som Doctor Who använder när han reser genom tid och rum.

Garnet som rekommenderades i mönstret kommer från Nya Zeeland och dessutom var det slut när jag ville sticka sockarna. Jag frågade vår allas indiedyer Tant Kofta om hon ville försöka färga TARDIS-blått och det gjorde hon (det finns faktiskt tom en Pantone som heter TARDIS blue!) Tant Koftas färgning blev naturligtvis jättebra och idag går det att köpa kit till just de här sockarna i Tant Koftas webshop.

Första paret började jag när vi skulle ut på en längre bilresa, min man gillar att köra och det gör mig inget, då kan jag sitta bredvid och sticka :)

När jag kommit förbi benet på sockan insåg jag borde ha stickat den större storleken till mig, för dessa skulle jag aldrig kunna använda eftersom de var för trånga för att få över min höga vrist. Min dotter har en kompis som är Whovian och dessutom lägre anklar, så hon fick sockarna i julklapp istället. Det andra paret jag gjorde blev till min son. De stickade jag i Austermann Step eftersom hans fötter mår bra av aloen i det garnet.

I stashen finns Tant Kofta Trekking i Tardis-blått till åtminstone ännu ett par till Police Box Sockar. Och de kommer definitivt att bli mina :D

The post I wrote before I started to knit Police Box socks last summer is still often downloaded and I just realised that I haven't blogged anything after the socks were finished.

Actually I have knit two pairs of them, but none of them are in my sockdrawer...

The Police Box Socks by Audrey Nicklin is available as a free download on Ravelry. As you can guess they look like Doctor Who's TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space) in which he travels through time and space.

The yarn this pattern called for could only be bought from New Zeeland, and was temporaly out of stock when I wanted to start the socks. So I asked Tant Kofta, a very competent Swedish indie dyer if she would dye some sockyarn. Her Tardis blue in the Trekking yarn base came out so beautiful! At the moment she sells kits for theese socks in her webshop.

I brought the socks on a road trip (my husband likes to drive, which  means I can knit!) and after I had finished the first sock's leg I realised that I would never get it over my high arches... That was so sad. Instead of frogging them, I desided to give them away to a Whovian with lower archs than mine.

Some time later I also made a pair of Tardis-socks for my son. He was so happy to get them. He is so knit worthy!

I still have Tant Kofta Trekkig, colourway Tardis Blue in my stash to make at least one more pair of Tardis-socks and I will definitely knit them for myself!
